Christmas in Chicago - Dec 2021

After isolating separately for four days and a duo of negative COVID tests, we loaded up Ken’s Beetle and headed north to Chicago to spend the holiday with his family.

Starbucks was obviously our first stop upon arrival. Once appropriately caffeinated, we had some time to stroll around the city and take in the sights.

Up next was a quick dinner at Wow Bao (avoid the pizza bao) and then drinks at The Drawing Room inside the Chicago Athletic Association.

We were a bit nervous that we wouldn’t get to see Frozen after Tuesday‘s performance was canceled due to a breakthrough case of COVID in the cast/crew Shoutout to the understudies/swings who hopped on a plane with minimal notice to keep the magic of theatre alive.

Keeping the magic alive, we wrapped up the night with the #1 rated Chicago-style hotdog at Superdawg Drive-In, complete with neon green relish. 10/10

Christmas Eve was filled with 7am Prosecco, an oversized charcuterie board, unnecessary amounts of food, and a few raucous games of Loteria (Mexican BINGO).

We closed out the trip with a Christmas day hike through the wilderness preserve and a photo-op at the Leaning Tower of Niles.

Here’s hoping your holidays are filled with overflowing love and happiness.
